The Beltway Balalaika Ensemble

The Beltway Balalaika Ensemble is one of five ensembles associated with the Washington Balalaika Society (WBS) ensemble and performs the rich musical heritage of Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe on traditional folk instruments and in costume. It is the largest ensemble of its kind in North America and has been performing in the northern Virginia/Greater Washington area since 1989. Conductor and Artistic Director is Svetlana Nikonova, a graduate of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia. This event is partially supported by funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The concert is open to the public. Contributions will be accepted to help support the Concert Series. A reception follows the concert.
