Padmarani Rasiah Cantu Indian Dance
Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 4 p.m.

Bharatha Natyam, an ancient classical dance form of India, is acknowledged as one of the world's oldest art forms. The dance showcases Indian mythology through theatrical entertainment. A traditional repertoire commences with an introduction, special movements of the limbs, and intricate rhythmic footwork. It then blossoms into storytelling through hand gestures and facial expressions and concludes with a brilliant exposition of pure rhythm. Colorful costumes, sparkling jewelry, and ankle bells complement this traditional presentation. This dance form is presented by Padmarani Rasiah Cantu, a consummate artist with an international reputation, She is an accomplished choreographer and teacher who reaches diverse audiences. This performance is partially supported by funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. This event is free and open to the public. Contributions will be accepted to help support the Concert Series. Bring your mask.
