- Prepares the annual budget for the next fiscal year – to include the congregation’s full share in support of the wider ministry of the Virginia Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – for the review and endorsement of the Church Council and the approval by the congregation at its Annual Meeting in November
- Exercises oversight of the congregation’s financial affairs to make sure that they are being conducted efficiently, giving particular attention to the prompt payment of all obligations and to the submission of benevolence monies to the Virginia Synod treasurer
Oversees the congregation’s investments, subject to the approval of the Church Council
- Ensures that the church is covered adequately by insurance, subject to the approval of the Church Council
- Arranges for the audit of the congregation’s financial records
- Includes the treasurer and financial secretary
- Submits minutes and reports five days before the Church Council meeting
- Submits an annual report to the Church Council by the second Tuesday of December
