Roberta LeaSunday, March 16, 2025 at 4 p.m. Roberta Lea is a Virginia woman making history as the first African-American country artist to rise from Norfolk, VA. She is a singer/songwriter, producer and artist who, after the pandemic, decided to take a chance on her dream and pursue music full time. Roberta was featured in the Nashville Scene’s Country Music Almanac 2022’s Artist to Watch List. She had six nominations, including best E.P. at the Hampton VEER Music Awards and won Song of the Year for “Sweet Baby Ray.” She has toured major cities and venues, including New York, Nashville, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Dollywood. March is Women's History Month, and Roberta is making her place in history in the Mildred McDaniel Concert Series. This concert is partially funded by the Virginia Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. The concert is free and open to the public. Contributions will be accepted to help support the Concert Series. A reception follows the concert.
